The British government is ready to advance with using the total value of seized Russia's assets to aid the Ukrainian defense operations, Leader Sir Keir Starmer has declared.

In a collective announcement, the officials of the United Kingdom, the French Republic, and the Federal Republic of Germany emphasized that this unified step would increase strain on Moscow's head Vladimir Putin and urge Russia to participate in talks.

They further noted that the move would be executed in strong partnership with the United States.

British penalties have blocked over £25bn of Russia's assets since Moscow began its full-scale invasion against Ukraine in 2022. But, until now, funds sent to the Ukrainian government using Russian assets had solely been drawn from earnings and returns accrued on them.

Sir Keir told Ukraine's leader Volodymyr Zelensky that the UK, France, and the Federal Republic of Germany were united in their goal to drive progress toward employing the complete amount of the seized Moscow's national assets to end the war.

He added that more measures over the next period would apply more pressure on Moscow.

This announcement comes after European leaders gathered in the Danish capital previously to consider utilizing seized Russia's assets for a €140 billion financial aid to the Ukrainian nation.

Recently, President Donald Trump called on international partners to seize or otherwise use frozen Russia's assets, based on reports.

The total of frozen Russian funds in the Europe is estimated to be nearly €211bn.

Russia executed large-scale missile and drone strikes throughout the Ukrainian territory on Friday, leading to electricity outages in large parts of the capital city, Kyiv, and several other zones.

Several persons were killed and at least 20 people were injured in the attack, authorities in Ukraine said.

In a post on X following the incident, Zelensky stated that the premeditated assault targeted non-military and power facilities.

"What's needed is not empty words but decisive action - from the America, the European Union, and the G7 - in supplying anti-aircraft weapons and applying sanctions," he stated.

"Each restrictive measure diminishes Russia's war machine," Zelensky wrote, in a different message.

Also on Friday, Zelensky informed media outlets he would urge Sir Keir to join the Purl programme, under which partner nations acquire weapons from the US to give to Ukraine.

While praising the Britain's firm backing for Kyiv, he remarked it should demonstrate clearly that it would participate in the initiative, as well as impose additional restrictions on Russia.
