Los Blancos' Alexander-Arnold Could Face His Former Club in Upcoming Champions League Fixture
Real Madrid signed Trent Alexander-Arnold on a long-term contract
Trent Alexander-Arnold's rehabilitation is advancing according to plan, giving hope that the Real Madrid right-back may return soon enough to play against his old team Liverpool in the upcoming European match.
The 27-year-old international suffered a muscle problem while playing against Ligue 1 side Marseille in the group stage of the tournament on September 16.
Alexander-Arnold exited the pitch in the fifth minute, with initial indications suggesting a possible absence of as long as a month and a half.
Real Madrid are scheduled to play at Liverpool on 4 November for the European fixture—just over a month after the incident happened.
Reports close to the situation indicate that the defender's recovery is advancing positively, and there is optimism that Alexander-Arnold might make his first appearance to Liverpool's stadium since moving to Los Blancos in June.
A longtime Liverpool supporter, Alexander-Arnold earlier said that departing from the team he joined as a six-year-old academy player was the "toughest choice he has ever taken."
During his time with the Merseyside club, Alexander-Arnold notched over 350 games, helping claim multiple Premier League championships, a Champions League, and the domestic cup.
After moving to Madrid, Alexander-Arnold has played five times across all competitions, logging 156 minutes of playing time.
