Iran Claims Strike on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Amid Regional Retaliatory Strikes.
Iran's military claims to have hit a US naval base in Manama, as Iran launched operations across the region in response for a "massive" and ongoing attack targeting the nation by the United States and Israeli forces.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area close to the headquarters of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any destruction is unclear and the United States has remained silent.
Airspace Engagements
In other parts of the Middle East, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - reported they have shot down missiles in their air space.
In the Qatari capital, the Qatari Ministry of Defence stated it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in retaliation for the strikes on the Islamic Republic launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - executed at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted areas linked to the Tehran's leadership, with US President Donald Trump calling on the Iranian people to revolt against the leadership.
Regional Fallout
In the State of Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israeli military reported it had detected an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The defence ministry of the UAE announced that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses engaged the projectiles with great effectiveness and destroyed a series of missiles," the statement continued.
It said missile fragments landed in a populated district in the capital, resulting in some property damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
