Ex- Doctor Accused of Assault Charges Against Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities have announced that a former doctor stands accused of performing assaults against 38 victims who were patients.
The Serious Charges
The accused, Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of dozens of sexual offences – including some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 and 2021.
One senior CPS official stated, “Legal teams have worked at length to support a thorough and intricate investigation, meticulously examining the evidence to establish that there is a strong case to bring the case to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Investigation
These allegations come after what police called a “complex investigation” into reported assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer is due to appear at the local magistrates' court on 20 January.
Breakdown of Charges
Prosecutors outline the 45 charges include:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
