Emma Raducanu concludes her season and has decided to continue with coach into the 2026 season.
Emma Raducanu made it to the third stage in three Grand Slam tournaments major tournaments this year.
Britain's Emma Raducanu has pulled out of her remaining competitions of the year as a result of a medical condition she has been battling in recent days.
The 22-year-old was due to play in tournaments in Tokyo and Hong Kong but opted to return home to rest and recuperate prior to beginning her preparations for 2026.
Those preparations are set to feature coach Francisco Roig, as both individuals will keep partnering in 2026.
Raducanu had her blood pressure taken during her first-round match against Ann Li in Wuhan and withdrew when trailing 6-1 4-1 on a day with extreme humidity.
She again required medical attention at the Ningbo Open this week, where she fell in a three-set match to local wildcard Zhu Lin in the first round.
Her movement was noticeably restricted in the final set versus Zhu because of back discomfort that has troubled her at times this year.
Such performances signaled a promising season, in which she climbed into the top 30 globally after a long gap for the first time since 2022, ended with three successive defeats.
She held three match points then was defeated by Jessica Pegula in round three in Beijing last month.
Raducanu won 28 victories this year and made it to the semi-final round in the Washington tournament, but her standout performance was at the Miami event in March.
The British number one reached the quarter-finals of this WTA 1000 tournament, defeating eighth seed Emma Navarro on the way prior to a loss in three sets to the world number four Pegula.
Her coach was trainer Mark Petchey between Miami and Wimbledon, with Roig assuming the role for the US Open.
The initial agreement with Rafael Nadal's former coach was through the season's conclusion but the partnership will continue, with a training session scheduled for the end of the year.
Raducanu told that her three-day trial with Roig after Wimbledon was like a "black ops mission" as they tried to keep the meeting secret.
The player was close to beating world number one Aryna Sabalenka at the first competition with Roig in Cincinnati during August.
Roig joined her in New York, where she made the third stage prior to losing to Elena Rybakina, the 2022 Wimbledon winner.
