It's difficult for the Australian squad to achieve unprecedented feats.

The top summits have already been conquered.

We're talking about the unit that has won seven Cricket World Cups, plus an additional six T20 titles, and previously enjoyed over three years without defeat in 50-over cricket.

The secondary achievements, targeted by the achievement hunters, are all that remain for a team that has achieved everything.

It needed up to Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase above 300, taking back their record for the biggest in the women's 50-over format, is, frankly, a tribute to the bowling attack that have sported the yellow jersey over the last half-century.

It is hard for their batsmen to maintain a record if not afforded the opportunity.

Finally, the result of Australia giving up 330 runs was leader Alyssa Healy getting a chance to deliver her most recent brilliance.

Originally famous as the 19-year-old niece of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she first played in 2010 after Australia couldn't capture either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups held the previous year and has experienced everything through 15 trophy-laden years since.

A T20 World Cup win arrived three months after her first appearance and seven international trophies have resulted from 10 tries across formats.

The tough gloveman was also there in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India briefly halted the run of success.

That loss "motivated us to rethink our standards," Healy commented earlier.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy made 170 against England in the championship match and was declared player of the series. She ensured her country would not fail again.

If this newest brilliant performance topped that previous effort remains open for discussion.

Certain people claim the argument supporting the pressure of a final. Different voices suggest with the challenge that comes when confronting a historic chase and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's clear is this ton was much more difficult to see coming.

The Christchurch carnage in 2022 came as she led the batting statistics, but this innings followed six innings in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"If you've observed me in the nets, it's been a challenging time because it seemed my form was missing whatsoever," stated Healy.

"But once you step out on the field, your fighting spirit kick in and you simply focus on the match."

Healy's competitive nature has consistently been her key asset - and an irreplaceable characteristic in succeeding legendary former captain Meg Lanning.

She was tormented by India's promising player Kranti Gaud in recent ODI series, fallen to the emerging pace bowler in every game, but here that only provided Healy's spark.

A single came off Gaud's first delivery and from that point the batsman was underway.

"A chance to play and engage in competition with her and merely enjoy the moment in that aspect, kind of motivated me," stated Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 balls - her fastest at a World Cup - and her century in 84 deliveries while she flogged anything short, striking 21 boundaries and three sixes.

Once she was dismissed her side required another 66 at one run per ball - an unconquered height now needing a comfortable finish.

"Chasing 330 runs is unfamiliar ground so I'm pleased we have the belief to do that now," added Healy.

"Preferably we shouldn't have to do it again but, if we do, we are confident we can do it."

These statements will be the final thing rival teams at this tournament want to hear.

Over the past five days a sense they will succeed regardless of circumstances has become more firm - this success following success over Pakistan by 107 runs despite sitting at 76-7 at one point.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a meeting with longtime competitors England in Indore in 10 days, by which point a semi-final place may probably be guaranteed.

During that phase they were eliminated from the prior year's T20 World Cup in a shock defeat by South Africa - a match Healy was absent due to ruptured tissue in her foot as she led her country for the inaugural occasion at a major tournament.

Such is her determination, she afterwards commented she wished she had played with the discomfort.

However although she afterwards confessed those injuries have postponed plans to retire, this tournament is likely to be her final tournament as skipper in ODI cricket and she is still to achieve a global event as leader.

Triumph in India would take her to the summit of her ultimate challenge.
